Sally Girl Eye Shadow Review

Hello Lovelies~

While out shopping the other day, I found myself in a local beauty shop called Sally's. It's a small shop stuffed with everything one might want for Hair Care, Nail Care, as well as a nice assortment of cosmetics.

Now I'm not normally one for cheep eye shadows, I usually can't find one that doesn't need to be retouched in three or so hours, doesn't smear, or feel to heavy. So when I saw Sally's was having a sale on their own line of cosmetics called 'Sally Girl', I didn't have high hopes. But, never one to pass up a .99 cent sale, I looked over their colors and found a strong peach that I just had to try.

As you can see, it's a small, pocket sized eye shadow holder, so on the down side, it might be easy to loose if misplaced, but on the upside, it has a lot of shadow in it. I'll get tons of use out of this!

This is my left eye with out the shadow...

And my right eye with the shadow.

I applied the shadow with my finger because I wanted to actually feel the texture of the powder and I was pleasantly surprised to find that felt like velvet! It was so silky smooth it was crazy. It moved across my skin with ease and gave great coverage and the pigment is exactly what I had hoped for. I wore this shadow for six hours and didn't need to retouch it once.

All and all, I'm very happy with my great find and will defiantly be going back for more soon!

Trend Report!

Hello Lovelies~

With Christmas right around the corner I haven't haven't been as attentive to you as I should, but in my week or so of down time, I did stumble across a cute trend everyone is going to love!

The trend I'm talking about is Fur! Or, more specifically, Fur Collars and Tails.

Fur collars are perfect for the winter. You can add them to coats or over any sweater to give it a touch of cuteness or elegance, depending on what you're going for. Innocent World was the first brand I was release just the fur collar, one that wasn't connected to any jacket or coat, though it had the ability to be. It was Released in 2009 in both a fawn, or Dear Spotted print, as well as a plain chocolate brown.

On to the next half of this trend. Tails.

While tails have yet to reach the Lolita community, they are very big with Gyrau and Gals.

Multi colored.... big and fluffy....I don't see a down side to this adorable trend. I wear a tail myself sometimes, though usually only around the Renascence Fairs.

Following this trend can add some whimsy and fun to a casual outfit and would be an awesome addition to any Deco Lolita outfit, or even and Fairy Kei look, how cute! Not brave enough to walk around with a tail connected to your belt loops? Connect it to you purse instead. It's a perfectly viable option and still allows you to join in this playful trend.

Please note, these awesome pictures belong to Japanese Streets, which is an amazing trend following blog. Go check them out!

Happy Loliday!!

Hello Lovelies~

The day is here! That very special holiday that only comes around twice a year. Loliday. The day when girls and boys who love the Lolita fashion get dressed up in the best frills and celebrate just being them. Rather alone or in a group, this holiday is a great way to fully embrace who you are.

Today would be a great day to make your Lolita debut if you're a girl who's still a bit nervous about donning a petticoat out in public, or, if you find that a bit daunting, one could always stay inside and have a flamboyant princess day complete with afternoon tea and pedicures.

If you're a seasoned Lolita, how about trying a new style? If you're a Gothic Lolita, why not have some fun and try to make a sweet cord out of your closet, and for a sweet girl, why not try something on the edge and go for a Pirate look for the day?

Lolita is a large and varied fashion, so have fun with it and have a very very happy Lolita day to everyone around the world!

Style Focus Update = Wa Lolita

Hello Lovelies~

Seems forever since I last did a post like this, but it's time for another Style Focus. And wouldn't you know it, It's seems like every time I go to do this, someone is putting out another Wa Lolita piece. For an obscure, hardly seen style, it sure is everywhere this year.

...Or maybe it's my wishful thinking, But! Metamorphose did just release new Wa prints, so Here I am to promote them and spread the word!

First we have my favorite piece~

This is dress is very Baby Doll with its high waist, not really something to be worn on it's own, but the nod to the kimono folds on the front is super cute!

I love how Bold and Bright the colors are. It is a really fun look for anytime of year, but I'd recommend it for summer wear mainly.

You can probably tell I favor the red print more than the turquoise, but each has their own character and voice. Both striking and elegant, but not with out their draw backs.

I really can't see this print being worn out grocery shopping or to formal parties. This is more of a On a whim, cheer yourself up dress. Or, something for a photoshoot. I dress to say you own, because it's beautiful and it really does call to you, but again, it's hard to find a place to wear it.

Over all : I want it! It is on my dream dress list, but this is not a dress for the shy or faint of heart. Take head when falling in love with it.

Next we have the traditional Jumperskirt~

Unlike the previous design which is only offered in two colors, this dress is offered in three. Purple and Black, Pink and Red, and Navy Blue and Black.

The print is beautiful and rich. It is a saturated and mature color palate and perfect for every season. While the flowers are bold, the cut of the dress of the dress lends well to everyday wear while the colors are matchable to most wardrobes.

One of the best options with this dress is the detachable flower from the middle of the bow that seems to dominate and distract from the beauty of this dress. It's my personal opinion, but I can't help but think the bow would be better served in back.

But the flower, as pictured below, it removable and with a simple application of hot glue, it could easily be combined with an alligator clip to make a cute hair accessory ^_^

So! What do you think? Anyone planning to turn Wa Lolita anytime soon? Lol I plan to just as soon as I find the right pattern at my local fabric stores.

Playing with your Food

Hello Lovelies~

Lately I have been obsessed with cute food, or rather, how to make it. I've been to a lot of sites on how to create Betnos and the like and finally, after months of being to chicken to try, pulled out a couple carrots and tried my hand at making Carrot Flowers.

They didn't turn out to bad if I do say so myself.  After making them and taking pictures of them, I ate them ^_^ It was a cute and delicious afternoon snack.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone around the world. Though 'Thanksgiving' is mainly celebrated here in America, you needn't be descendant from Pilgrims to be thankful for the people and things in your life. So give thanks today and share the day with friends and family!

My Thankful List

Hello Lovelies~

Thanksgiving is almost here and while this holiday has become about the food for the most part, it's still a time to take a moment and deeply reflect on what we are thankful for each year. I was already thinking of writing a post such as I am now, but when I saw that the Beautiful 'Ramble Rori' had done one just the same, I figured what the heck, she did it first, give her the credit!

So this is my 'Thankful List' as inspired by the great post by 'Ramble Rori' and you can find the original Here.

 1) I'm thankful for the wonderful people in my life that push me to be a better person, even though I'm stubborn and don't like or want to change.

2) I'm thankful for the love that has entered my life and while quite, is always there when I need him.

3) I'm thankful for my new job and the people I work with. They are all unique and fun to be around and they make the day go by so quick!

4) I'm thankful for my developing sewing abilities, without them I'd have to rely on others to make me the clothing I truly want and that can get expensive after awhile.

5) I'm thankful for my friends. For the New friends and Old friends, Close friends and Friends who are far away. I'm thankful for them all.

6) I'm thankful for the ability to be me is a world that wants me to be like everyone else.

And finally...

7) I'm thankful for the beauty I've had come into my life this year and hope it continues into the next year.

Well, that's my list. What are you thankful for? I'd love to hear your list ^_^

Homemade Cutie!

Hello Lovelies~

With Christmas coming up, I decided to try my hand at something I've wanted to do for a long time, but just haven't felt skilled enough to do. But the other day was watching 'Dancing with the Stars' and got this over whelming urge to try my hand at Plushie Making.

So I pulled out so scrap fabric I'd picked up earlier in the month, threaded my needle and set to work Drawing out, then carefully cutting, then puzzling over the stitching until I finally got it right. It turned out super cute, so I'm going to make more!

Here is the result of my experiment....

Cute huh? Here's one from another angle...

And because he needed a face and I didn't have any buttons right one hand, I used Pins!

What do ya'll think?

Look for the DIY tutorial on how to make this little cutie for yourself coming soon!

Penning Letters: A Lost Art?

Hello Lovelies~

While I was waiting for my manager to open the back office so I could clock out at work, I was hanging out in the Fine Art section and while browsing about, I happened to look to my left and see an entire section of quill nibs, wooden bodies, and pots of ink, just sitting on a shelf as if it were the year 1800 and everyone, including their sister-in-law's mother's step brother is carving out the time in their busy day to sit down at truly write a letter.

I know the intention is for wedding invitations and the like, but it got me thinking about my own neglected Quill set hiding in my room and I longed to truly sit and write someone. But Who?

With information able to be sent faster than the speed of light, why sit down and pen a letter to someone when E-mail is so easy? By the time the letter is received the news is old, though the opinions still valid.

So why do it?

Simple. Because e-mail is so easy, people never get mail that isn't Junk or Bills. Sure the occasional Holiday card is received, but even that is getting side lined by e-cards and the instant no postage required attitude.

Hand writing a letter let's someone know that you took the time out of your day to sit and think about them for however long it took you to write the letter. Whether you use a Quill like I like to, or you use a pen or even a pencil, it's a more heart felt way to say, 'I Love You'.

So before you sit down and fire off an e-card or write a two page long e-mail to your Sister telling her about the wonderful family trip you just took, think about the surprise and joy your receiver will get when they find your letter in the mail, tucked between the coupons for Pizza Hut and the Midnight Velvet catalog.

Happy Writings!

Happy Aniversery Tokyo Rebel!

Hello Lovelies!

Can any one believe it's been a year since Tokyo Rebel opened their doors to the public? It's crazy! I've never ordered from them before, but I want to. I always see pretty things that I just can't stand not having.

I finally have the ability to order from them and do you know what I'm going to get? Why the AP designed tote bag of course! So's so simple and yet sweet at the same time, perfect for me. Check it out!

This beautiful black bag is light weight and durable. Perfect for any Lolita on the go whether they use it for their Loli emergency kit in their car, or for a carry all when staying with friends over night. Personally, I think I'd use it for my art supplies when I'm at cons. I need a cuter way to carry everything without looking like a bumbling middle-schooler without a locker...again.

This less than Over The Top bag is selling for $20, not including shipping and for that very reasonable price. I think I'll get two ^_~.

You can find this very cute item Here . Go! Get one for yourself and send me a picture of what you use it for ^_^

Super cute find!

Hello My Lovelies~

While out shopping today I saw the cutest pair of socks, and though I don't wear socks all that often, I just had to get them.

As you can see, they are white socks with dark pink toes and heels with pastel multi colored hearts all over them. I don't wear socks a lot, but When I saw them my first thought was, 'CUTE!'. My second thought was of what I could wear them with. So thanks to these socks, I think I may try a Fairy-kei outfit before it's too cold to get away with one.

Here they are worn ^_^

Fall into Fashion...

Hello Lovelies~

It's October. It's cold. And it's the middle of Autumn. But besides all of that, Some Brands are still slow in releasing their 'Fall' collections, Metamorphose for one and IW for another.

I have been really disappointed with Meta so far this year, but despite that, I am being increasingly pleased with Innocent World and their simple approach to the season.

They aren't shoving border prints in out faces as Angelic Pretty and Baby have been, so I feel they tend to get over looked in the communities' sugar crash after the past year's Over The Top craze. As the community shakes off the past years indulgences and sees their closets with unglazed eyes for the first time in so many months, a calm has settled over the masses and a 'Back to basics' thought process is emerging.

Sweet Lolitas are staying true to their nature and looking for sweet clothing that doesn't give them cavities and luckily they have a place to turn.

So far this season, IW has given us prints such as...

The Rose and Little Brid Jumpper in both Short and Long Lengths.

The picture above is the Short version in the Pink and Beige coloring. Below is a picture of just the print, though it is in the Navy and Beige colors.

This dress is good for Sweet girls as well as Classic ladies and works well in the Fall and Spring.

If border prints are more your thing, this next dress may be for you. It's called ...

Night Bear Jumperskirt

Only available in one length, this gentle dress is shirred in the back to allow for multiple shapes and sizes. But what it lacks in length, It makes up for in color choices. Pink, Black, and Chocolate are three of the main color palates for IW and even as I wish for more options, I respect the integrity this brand has for developing quality products with three or so colors to choose from rather than quantity.

But enough with my mini rant, on to the picture...

Sweet, simple, and my teeth are in no danger of rotting out as I look at the dress. This is a dress for Sweet Lolitas, so I wouldn't recommend it for girls with a more classic feel. No matter the color, it is still very Classic Sweet, on more of the sweet side, and even though it was released for Fall, I deem this more of a spring look unless you order the Chocolate color, then it's an all year dress.

As you can see, this border depicts classically penned teddy bears engaging in a variety of playful antics before bed. It's a super cute Jumper that would add a splash of classic to any wardrobe.

Prints not your thing? Jumpers to Sweet for you? Want more classic than the Classic sweet can provide this Fall and Winter? Innocent World has that covered as well!

The Antique Stripe Collection might be just what you're looking for.

Made up of two pieces, this outfit is the beautiful blend of a high waisted skirt and a bustier style top, along with any shirt you decide to match with it. Each piece of this set is styled with two rows of aged buttons fastened down the front of the garments.

As seen in the above pictures, this outfit is offered in two different colors. Navy and Chocolate. It's the perfect choice for any Classic Loli looking for the edge of Military, or Prim school girl to add to her wardrobe.

I feel this is mostly a fall look and can be worn well anywhere from the first day of September all the way to February. But after that, it's just to dark for the changing seasons.

I hope you liked the styles I've shown you where and go look into this widely known, but under appreciated brand. I hope I've inspired you to add a touch of classic to the sweet in your life.

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful.......

Hello Lovelies~

Today I awoke to discover a beautiful day! Sunshine, trees rustling, a bird chirping...or what I assume was chirping as I couldn't actually hear it, only see it open and close it's beak occasionally... A perfectly nice day right? Wrong! Oh how wrong I was!

I went outside to discover my beautiful warm day was bitterly cold and the wind was only making it worse! I really wanted to cry when I realized summer was truly gone and Fall seems to be passing right by to give away to ol' Jack Frost. He'll be nipping at our Petticoats faster than one might think, so it's time to morn the loss of our thin cotton jummpers that we were happily wearing without shirts and four underskirts and start pulling out the layers.

As Lolitas, we don't really mind wearing more clothes, it's a pretty accepted fact, but maybe this year you're looking at the Over The Top stylings of last year and longing for a change, well ladies and gents, this is the time!

This is the time to sell, trade, beg, barrow, and prepare for a new winter. I know I'm going for a Classic Hime feel this year. Corduroy Dresses, Velvet Skirts, Heavy Wool Coats, and Tights are in my future, but maybe that's not for you...

Are you going Gothic? Maybe a good starting point would be a black hooded cape with fur edging. Or a good pair of sturdy boots. Going Sweet? Earmuffs with bunny ears are always cute. How about a simple Classic style for holiday gatherings with family. For this I recommend A-lines and wool along with Velvet accessories and rose motifs.

But no matter what look you're going for this year, Remember to have fun with it and that you don't have to get rid of everything in your closet. A lot of pieces transition from style to style.

Look on the Live Journal EGL Sales Community for good deals and don't forget that it's never to early to pick up that certain Dream Dress for next spring ^_~

It's to short!!!!!! Now what?

When making your own clothes, my dear readers, the rule is 'Measure twice, Cut once.'. An easy enough rule to follow and please never forget to give yourself an extra inch or two for the 'oops' moments in life we all tend to have.

But when you've finished you new skirt or dress and come to realize that those two extra inches disappeared and your 21in. skirt is now 19in., what do you do?

Seeing as you might be able to tell this just happened to me, I'd discovered a few helpful ways to handle this problem and I'm going to share them with you.

Solution 1: Sew long lace or a longer ruffle around the bottom of the hem.

With this, the skirt gets a cute flounce and you get back those inched you accidentally misplaced.

Solution 2: Wear long bloomers underneath your skirts and petticoats.

With this option, your knees are covered and you get to show off a piece of you wardrobe that isn't often seen by others that aren't you. This solution has a rule to it though.

If your skirt is shorter than four inches, do not attempt the long bloomers. After four inches is looks silly and you should just proceed to the next option.

Solution 3: Rock it like you mean it!

This is exactly what it says, rock the short lolita skirt. In the last two years, Brands like Metamorphose and Innocent World have been releasing two or, in Innocent World's case, three different lengths to their skirts, one of which is a 'mini' length, though you won't see this in IW as often as you will in Meta or even Angelic Pretty.

The 'mini' length is usually two or three, sometimes four, inches above the knee and they are made to show off the lower strip of thigh before the socks start.

I hope these tips help you though the 'oops' and 'well hell's we all deal with when it comes to fashioning our own clothes. Good Luck!

Personal thoughts and words to think on....

Hello My Lovelies~

No, I have not forgotten about you, but I have forgotten myself lately. In the heat of summer I grew lazy and practically lived in my Pajamas. I kid you not. I watched a lot of T.V. and experienced life through my mouth as I tend to do from time to time. I lost twenty pounds, gained five back, started renovating my room, turned another year older, and found myself loving life all over again.

To be honest, I am in pain more often than not. My body hurts when I breath to deep or over exert myself. And through the summer I realized that I was letting this pain take away what I loved. Which is Food, Fashion, Fun, everything.

So Today I got up, dressed up in one of my best Lolita outfits, and went to a Spooky party being thrown by a friend of mine to kick off the Haunted House Season.

I will once again be playing around in a doll room at a local haunted house and am so excited.

To anyone who reads this. Please, read these words and hold them close. Remember them as you surf away from this blog and read other, more inspiring words from other, more influential Lolitas.

'Keep Doing What You Love.'

It's not original, or very eloquent, I know, but it's the truest truth I know. If we stop doing what we love...if we just give into the pain, give into the ridicule, the harsh remarks, if we just stop and let it fade, then we've lost...

Lost ourselves, lost the war for individuality, or...I don't even know how to finish that thought, but I hope you understand what I've tried to convey to you.

I am not giving up. I'm fighting. I will keep hold of what I love and hold it tight. This pain will leave me one day, and on that day, I don't want to say, 'Now my life can start again.', I want to be able to say that my life will continue on as planned...or unplanned as that's how I live my life.

Let's Beat the Heat : Part 2

Hello my Lovelies! As I promised, this post is all about hair and makeup to keep you cool in the summer swelter.

Seems as if this year Mother Nature is truly trying to wilt our petals, if you'll forgive the natural-kei joke. In fact, the humidity was so high today, stepping out of my well air conditioned house was like running full force into a wall. The air was thicker than molasses, it was terrible! But humidity or no, my hair didn't frizz once!

So let's talk about hair style for the summer!

I'm going to start with short hair, because it seems everyone likes to trim and cut their hair to cool down.

Most, I've found, go with a Bob. Which is where the hair is trimmed to the chin, this is usually accented with blunt cut bangs. This style looks really cute with small side bows, either on or off a headband.

If you want to go with a hat, stay away from the Mini hat in this style. Go with a full hat like a Boater or a Top hat. If Bonnets are your thing though, stay with a cute half bonnet to show off your playful locks.

Another short summer style is the Pixie cut. This is a very short boy like style that can go as short as you like, or as long as a long shag. This style is best accented by small bows, though I recommend a centered bow rather than a side bow to draw the eye to the whole hair cute, rather than one side of it.

Medium length hair goes from just below the shoulders to below the shoulder blades and Long hair is defined as anything that is longer than mid back. These next styles are adaptable for either length.

The first style is simple.

The Low Pigtail:

Everyone knows how to do this style. You split you hair, equally if you can, and tie it securely just behind your ears, above or below it doesn't matter to much.

Easy right? But if that's to easy, you can always decorate it.

One option is to get a large curling iron and heat each section into a large curl, then hair spray it to make sure it stays.

Second style option is to take the pig tails and loosely wrap them in a bun to get the hair off your neck. This is also a good option for sticking flowers or bows around the edges.

This is a picture of 'Purinyappykura' From LiveJorunal. As you can see, her hair is in the Loose Bun style, a very good look for her, if I may say so.

Another option is to braid each half. I love this style myself, I think it's so cute whether in Full out Lolita, or the rare occasion I wear jeans. If you just left it as is, it would be super cute, but there is one more option that I actually have an accompanying picture to show you.

The Fourth option is to take those cute braids and wrap them until they are buns. then tuck the unbraided tuft under the bun and either pin the heck out of it, or wrap a hair tie around it once or twice.

'Celticfreefall' is Showing off the Braided Bun style. This is a look that is good for both Sweet and Classic outfits and is great for showing off longer earrings and thick necklaces.

There are more styles and tips to be had and I'll share more with you at a later time. But for now, I encourage you to give these a try and send me pictures! I'd love to see your creativity and imagination while you beat the heat!

Next time I'll talk about Make up and share a few personal tips on the subject.

Metmorphose Spotlight!

Hello my Lovelies~

Meta just released their newest Fall Print and to be honest I was less than thrilled. Don't get me wrong, I love the print and the designs are simple and classic, but when combined it creates one big mess.

The print is called 'Gardening Teddy'. It is offered in three color choices.

A rich Chocolate color...

A soft Cream color...

And a color that can only be described as Razzberry...

Aren't they cute? These three samples make my heart skip a beat, until I see the dresses.

I will be showing you three dresses in the three colors, although on the site, Meta also has two skirts and an apron and bloomer set that I think they will release as Room Wear.

First we have the OP, or Sleeved Dress.

I like the simple tiered design of the OP. The large peter pan collar is adorable and buttons down the front give it a more classic feel. But that's were my like of it stops.

I think the random bow at the waist is distracting from the clean lines and the print is just to much. It looks like a hot mess from any angle but three inches from your nose where all you get is a few swirls of roses and a couple teddy bears.

The next dress is the Triple Tier Pettifore.

Cute Design, good lines, if one looks close enough, you can even see the double row of pin tucks before the ruffles on each tier. The dress is adorable! But the Razzberry color is almost to bold, in my opinion and the print is distracting and, once again, just to much.

The third design I'm going to show is the one I like the most.

Here we have the High Waisted Pettifore in Cream. The Antique white back ground allows the eye to separate the small, detailed pattern of the print and distinguish the various colors to make one complete picture. I still feel it's to much, since the print is so small, but all in all the Cream is the best choice for this print.

Now, as for the dress, I like the empire waist look, it cut really reminds me of the late Regency era and the French designs that flooded the ton by 1860 or so. The this dress has thick straps, rather than puff sleeves, I have the feel that this is the most versatile of the three styles shown.

Cute on it's own for a summer dress, adorable with a short sleeved shirt underneath for spring. Classy over a long sleeved shirt in the fall, and just the right amount of playful in the winter with a thick pair of tights.

Yes. I truly feel this is an all around any season dress.

Meta has put out a headdress for this collection, as well as a pair of socks that I don't really feel the connection with and a bag that they haven't released completed pictures of just yet. But the last piece of this collection I want to show all of you is the item that made me feel that a skirt in this print wouldn't be to bad an addition if only to match with this....

Isn't it Adorable! It has such a peasant, old world country feel to it that I can't help but want to make one. I am looking for the right fabric, but mark my words, there will be a tutorial soon to help you make your own!

Until next time!

Innconet World Spotlight!

Happy 4th or July my Lovelies!

I am planning a meet up for later this month and am wanting something new to wear to it. So with excitement I found the perfect fabric, just the right lace, raced home, pulled it out and thought to myself, 'What do I want the end look to be?', and that made me pause.

What did I want the end look to be?

The thought required research into what the Brands were doing, Brand is a great starting point for inspiration, and for the fabric I chose, I thought IW would get my creativity going with the right vintage feel, and what I saw....well I just had to share it with all of you.

Isn't it stunning? It is called 'Alphabet Rose' and it stole my heart.

The pattern is hard to see on the pink background, but it is a light rose design with scrolled letters scattered about, almost randomly.

Here is the dress on it's own. I am not impressed with the pink, but the green is truly eye catching.

This dress is being offered in both colors, in both lengths. Personally, I like the Maxi length in the green, but the short traditional length is alluring as well. I feel like Innocent World has hit this one out of the park!

One of the great features of this dress is the top...

Not only is this a halter dress, IW has made the straps adjustable and convertible so it can be worn as a traditional Jumper if one so desired. How wonderful it that?

As with most dresses I consider buying, this is a shirred dress, though it is only partially shirred and has corset lacing in the back for an added princess effect.

Detail pictures of the pattern, in Pink and Green respectively. On the Reserve page, it is said that this dress also comes in a Milk Tea/Cream color, but they had no pictures of it, so I am unclear on how the colors compare.

This design is currently on Reserve and with any luck, I'll have the money to order one for myself. The only trouble will be deciding which length I want!

Let's Beat the Heat!

Hello My Lovelies! Can you believe it's already July?

This is the time of year a lot of girls, and guys, tend to shy away from the Lolita fashion, siting that it's just to hot to wear so much! And I'll agree, who wants to wear bloomers, two petticoats, a skirt, knee high socks, close toed shoes, a shirt, and a cardigan to complete the look, not to mention all the hair styling, makeup application, jewelry....goodness, it makes me over heated just thinking about all of that!

First, let's loose the layers! Even if it's a thin shrug, don't do it, you'll regret it later. Go with skirts in the summer rather than Jumpers. It doesn't matter if they are Brand, homemade, or store bought, a simple skirt will save you the extra up top layer and will coordinate with t-shirts or cutsews better than a Jumper will.

But, never being one to limit the fashion options, for those of you out there and do want to wear your Jumpers, I recommend wearing it with out a shirt underneath, much like you would a sundress. I know it sounds indecent, but once you're out in the baking sun for a few hours at a picnic or back yard party, you'll agree that going it a little more casual than the strict style calls for is just fine.

It doesn't matter which style of outfit you go for, they'll both look great and keep you cool, but don't forget to wear a light petticoat. Sure three layers of poof will get you the desired cupcake effect, but one layer will let you have more summer fun.

I say bloomers are optional and really a personal choice during the Dog days of summer, so wear them at will.

Second, let's talk about socks and shoes. Now I know it's traditional to wear at the knee, or above the knee sock with everything! Seems like that's all anyone ever wears, but even Brand knows that the secret to looking cute and staying cool under the sun is Crew Socks.

Sure there is a big debate over ankle length socks and if it's ok to wear them, despite their Brand labels, it's almost more debated than the striped socks issue that is very much like the cold war. A silent battle of will between two super powers. Elitists and Newbies.

But while I'd love to sit here and talk with you about striped socks all day, I'll get back to the crew sock issue at hand.

I wear crew socks. My calves are to big for most knee highs, and I'm on the short side of average, so ankle socks make me look taller, not to mention I think the folded over lace look is super cute.

When wearing crew socks, I recommend wearing low healed Mary Janes, if you get higher than three and a half inches the look starts to go trashy and kinky rather than cute and sweet. When not wearing socks, go with a open toed wedge sandal, or a decorated pair of flip flops. Cute and comfortable, plus you can show off a cute pedicure if you happen to have one.

I think that covers clothes, next time I'll talk about hair, makeup, and all the little things that'll keep you dressing up without a second thought this month!

A month away, but here to stay!

Hello my dears!

Forgive the long absence. For the last month I have been more than a little sick, but I'm better now and once more able to be within the land of the living. With any luck, I'll get a new and proper Post done by Friday as well as Meet-up pictures posted Sunday or so.

I hope everyone had a good May and I look forward to the rest of June!

Innocent World Spotlight!

Evening Ladies and Gentlemen! As anyone that reads my blog knows, I love Meta, but to be fair, I love most every Lolita brand from Angelic Pretty to Innocent World.

I happened to be looking around the Innocent World site today and noticed they had something new out for summer. The dress is a cute summer halter dress with connected apron. It's a sweet, simple look that is perfect for a country Lolita style.

As you can see, the apron is decorated with a sweep of strawberries at the corner and for a extra kiss of sweetness, not only is there a band of strawberries around the bottom of the dress, but there is also an embroidered berry sweep on the right lapel.

This is a good dress for larger girls. IW is known for making their shirred dresses for any size and this half shirred halter dress is just the ticket.

For added fun, this dress comes with the option to remove the front lace panel, giving the wearer the option for a more casual look. Good planning on the Brand's part.

Everyone has different tastes, some of us like Light Blue, others Pink, or Mint, but Innocent World is more of a...classic sweet, so their colors are richer than one typically finds these days.

Red and Beige, Blue and Beige, and Chocolate and Beige. Rich, Bold colors that are sure to please any one looking for a more tame sweet this summer.

Most of my new pieces are Deco style, all of which are generally pink and ya'll know how I much I don't really wear pink. But I love each piece and hope to find outfits to match them.

I'll have pictures of my new pretties up tomorrow, but for now I wanted to let you know how much fun I had and that I'm happy to be back!

Daisy FlipFlop Tutorial!

My First Tutorial!!!!!

Darling Readers,

I'm very excited to share with you, my very first tutorial ever! Summer is fast approaching and I was looking at all of my close toed shoes and over the knee socks, mentally whining over the fact that in the middle of July I'll be more than wilted and irritable in the heat with almost no relief.

So while out shopping at Walmart I saw the WALL of flip flops and began wishing for a pair of Loli-ish casual slip ons, something cute and easy. So I tossed a pair into the cart and kept shopping, a short time later I came to the craft section and the fake flower isle....it was like everything suddenly became brighter!....in reality it was the flickering light finally deciding it wanted to stay on, but to me it was clear, and this is what came of it.

What you lovelies will need is.....

<> One pair of any color flipflop you like. I am using yellow, but I encourage you to express yourself.

<> One bundle of fake flowers. Any type will do, I liked the daisies, but I made a pair with roses so anything works.

<> One Pair of Scissors

<> One hot glue gun and glue. I used three glue sticks in the making of these, but I have big feet, it just depends on the size of your shoes.

Alright, now that we have our supplies gathered let's start.

First, Choose your shoe and cut a flower from the bunch, until there is very little stem left, then put enough glue on the back of the flower to hold it in place, use your judgment and don't burn yourself, then place it on the band of the flip flop, As shown below....

Next, keep gluing, remembering to let the glue try for a moment in between each flower placement, until you reach the 'V' or the piece of plastic the goes between your toes then STOP!!! Do NOT place a flower there until you glue the other side of the band. The 'V' should be the last flower you place.

When finished, go on to the next shoe. Let both shoes sit for a FULL ten minuets. No Cheating, that's how you get burned.

This is how mine turned out...

Hope you like this and try it out for yourself. I'd love to see what you come up with if you do ^_^
