Weekend run down and Outfit Post 4-6-13

Hello Lovelies~

 Over the weekend I had the pleasure to attend a very good friends wedding. It was beautiful and touching and a fantastic mix of Classic and Geeky. The classic elements were the beautiful mixture of Red, White, and Black and the Geeky element was the Mario theme!

Oh yes. Mario.

 Actually it was more of a Mario Kart theme, but apples and oranges.

It was wonderful to see old friends, dance with old friends, and talk about video games for hours with people in sexy snazzy suits!

 I Para'd to Night of Fire, did Caramelldansen (The full Para version...or what we could remember of it ^_^), and Gallop Stepped my way though Gangnam Style! It was a blast and a half!!!

While I won't be posting pictures of the Wedding itself or of the dancing, even though we were epic about it, I do have pictures of the wedding favors and my outfit for the evening.


The cake topper was SO cute! On the back, on the license plate, is the phrase 'Just Married' but I wasn't able to get a picture of it due to the glare from the window.

The cake itself was a work of geeky art! The coins and blocks were made with fondant and the rest was buttercream. Each layer was a delicious different flavor. From Top to bottom (Not including the very top tier which is traditionally saved for the bride and groom on the first anniversary)  Marble Fudge, Chocolate with a Raspberry middle (I think...it tasted like it, but I tried all three so I can't be absolutely sure on this) , and a Vanilla with a Raspberry middle.

 I kid you not, all three layers were amazing!

This was the table set up. So cute with the Mario and Peach boxes. Each one was filled with gold coins and there were coin on the table as well. That was a really nice touch.

I even took a pair home to remember the event.

 My eye liner didn't photograph well unless up close. So first, the eye liner.
 

I left my hair down and wore my BTSSB head round to complete the outfit.

Outfit Post : 4-4-2013

Hello Lovelies~

 This year I want to try and do more outfit posts. Whether I'm my regular frilly self or if I'm having an extreme princess day or in casual clothes for a job interview, I'm going to try and take pictures of the outfits I wear.

I think it will help me mix up my cords and not get stuck in a clothing rut.

 Today I went out to an interview before going to work, so this was my outfit and makeup.

Not a crazy outfit, it was a job interview after all, just a plain black top with a cute ruffle detail on the front and a plaid skirt I've had for just about ever.


 If any of you saw my  On The Go Makeup tutorial, you'll recognize the look I did to go with this outfit.

With needing to go to work after the interview, I decided a light, neutral make up look was best.

 So there it is. Not wild or crazy or frilly or very me, but nice. Maybe next time I'll do something a bit more funky ^_^

 

LBC : Design an Outfit around an Animal

Hello Lovelies~

 Has anyone else been suffering from the 'Not Quite Summer Yet' blues? I'm feeling all kinds of drained! But with any luck the weather will change soon and I'll get back into a regular-ish posting schedule.

But for now, it's LBC day and this week we have a really fun subject. ' Pick and Animal and Create an Outfit around it'.

 Now there are plenty of animals that are considered Lolita, like Bears, Bunnies, Kittens, Dogs, and Dear. I love all of these animals, especially Dear and Bunnies, but I wanted to do something a bit more....off the typical frilly path.


Despite my love of light blue, pink, ruffles, and chiffon, I LOVE animal prints! Leopard/Cheetah being my favorite. I'm sure those of you who've been following me for awhile might remember my Cheetah Print bedspread and my pink Cheetah Print slippers.

I even have a Cheetah print stocking when Christmas comes around ^_^ So I can bet you can tell what animal I picked!

Let's get to the outfit~

 I started with Metamorphoses' 'Rose Leopard' printed High Waist Pinafore Dress. I've had my eye on this dress for a long time and am so in love with this print it's not funny.

I'm not sure about the floppy bow on the front, but the dress and print are amazing, so the bow can be over looked. Personally, I'd remove it and use it another way.

 I'm of the opinion that some dresses don't need an under layer, but in the fall and winter I would pair this dress with this super cute blouse from IW.

This is the 'Standing Collar Dobby Blouse'. It's a very nice piece that would be a very easy to coordinate with other outfits and I am all about using clothes in more than one look.

 I looked for a good pair of cheetah printed tights, but I didn't see a set I liked, so I chose a nice pair of cream tights instead. 'We Love Color' has a wonderful selection of colored tights for ALL sizes and for this outfit I went with the Light Tan or Ivory colors.

Light colored tights equal dark shoes and while 'Tea Parties' are cute, this dress deserves something you can strut in.

The 'Lace Scallop Heart Short Boots' from Innocent World was just the ticket! The heel is high enough to make the legs look great, while the boots verses high heels keeps the look from being to Gyaru.


 No look is complete without the right bag! This chocolate and beige colored 'Classical Charm' hand bag from IW is more than cute!

Above is the bag with the heart charm, and below is the bad without it.

Top is all off with a cute Beret or Bow and it's done. For hair accessory options I recommend....

Lolita Blog Carnival : Week 24 : Your Favorite Type of Accessory!

 Thank goodness it's Friday!~ That means that it's the beginning of the weekend, my day off, and time for another Lolita Blog Carnival Post!

This week it is all about Accessories. We are supposed to post on our favorite accessory but as I worked on this over the week, I started to wonder if I was supposed to post on My Favorite Accessory, as in something I actually own, or if the post was supposed to be about My Favorite Accessories in general.

I decided to blend the two ideas! The challenge was really kind of open ended.

  

  To kick things off, we'll start with the accessory I actually own.

This is an older picture of me, I mean my hair is brown and everything!!!, Lol, But seriously. The headdress happens to be my favorite accessory. It is the Metamorphose Princess R.Lace Headdress.

 It was given to me by a friend who is very close to my heart for my birthday one year I do believe and I wear it quite often.

 I love it because it's simple, elegant, and can go with most anything I pair it with. Black and white, Pink, Red, Skirts, Dresses, It's very versatile and that is what I look for in all of my accessories. I pay a lot for them, so I want to use them for more than one thing ^_^

See? Dressed up or down, this headdress is a classic.

If you can make out the white frill in front, that is the headdress flat. It's such a bright white that getting pictures of it is really hard.



 Now, as for my favorite accessories in general, I must say I think in has to be False Nails.

That's right, False Nails are my favorite accessory. Sure, I love a beautiful peal necklace, I like my headdresses and head bows and my frilly socks, but if you walk out of the house and have old or chipped nail polish, it can really take away from the finished look you have put together.

 I confess, I walk out of the house and my nails rarely look perfect. My job is rough on them and more often than not, my nails are uneven and my polish is severely chipped, but I try to keep the nice. When I get a day to relax and dress up, my nails are the last thing on my mind, I just want to get out of the door and enjoy my day off, not spend all day getting ready for it!

I used to feel self conscious about them, but then I decided to fix the problem rather than always feel awkward about them. I bought my first pair of nails the very next day and put them in my purse with a package of thick adhesive to hold them in place.

 False nails are easy to find in stores, on line, or you can even make them yourself. They range in price and size, so if you want a look that is wearable over and over that can coordinate with every outfit and doesn't take forever to dry! Then I would recommend looking into getting a pair to try out for yourself.


  I have worn that set so much that they can't be worn any longer, and sadly, have no pictures of them to show all of you, but that's alright. I make my own nails now and showing off my own hard work is always more fun!

Book 8 of 50

     I've been sick for about a week, as my last post indicated, so I've been able to have some down time to catch up on my reading. Last night I finished reading 'Warm Bodies', a zombie book which has recently been turned into a movie. I'm not one for zombies, but after seeing the movie trailer, I knew I had to read the book before I bought my tickets.

'Warm Bodies' is a wonderful new take on the classic story of 'R'omeo and 'Julie'tte. R is a zombie of a different sort and Julie is the daughter of a bohemian free spirit who passed her love of life onto her daughter. The two star crossed lovers meet at a party of sorts that is filled with screams and gunshots rather than laughter and music.

 You'll have to read the book, but it is the general plot of Romeo and Juliette. It's hidden in a smear of blood, but this book is funny in all the right places and grips you from the first page.

While reading this book, I saw a few Shakespearean connections, but I was more interesting in the under lying theme of Nature vs. Nurture.

 The question, 'If we wake up and remember nothing about who we are, would we still be us.' So we know what we know because it's taught to us, instilled in us, over and over and over, or is there a higher plan? A greater design?

 Whatever the answers are, I'd like to share with ya'll a quote from the book that stuck with me, made me think about it for more than it was, but what it could be saying....


    "I have begun to wonder where I came from. The person I am now, this fumbling, stumbling, supplicant... Was I built on the foundations of my old life, or did I rise from the grave a bank slate? How much of me is inherited, and how much is my own creation? Questions that were once just idle musings have begun to feel strangely urgent. Am I firmly rooted to what came before? Or can I choose to deviate?" --- R. Paragraph 1, page 59.


For a book aimed at young adults, with it's roots in the Shakespearean past and it's hands stretching out to the apocalyptic future, it is has layers, like a lotus flower.


  This book might have a small opening for a sequel. But it's a solid read. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Romance, Zombies, and Searching for a deeper meaning.
 

Relaxation and a 'Get Well Soon' treat

Hello Lovelies~

 I made it safely home from my trip! I had a wonderful time and reconnecting with my family was a pleasure. ^_^ I had such a good time I was rarely on to check my mail or anything of the like, so I didn't realize my scheduled posts hadn't posted! o.o sad indeed!

So this week will be full of those posts, but today I must admit that I am very under the weather. My throat hurts and I am curled up in my comfiest pajamas watching comfort movies. I thought I'd share a list of my favorite movies that always make me feel better when I'm sick, One or two very Lolita like, Others not, and a simple snack that sooths the throat.

First, the movies!


 Somewhere in time is one of my all time favorites. It's slow and simple and one of the most heart wrenching love stories you will ever encounter. I cry every time I watch this film.

Best Robin Hood Ever! Kevin Costner, Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman.... Good writing, good music, good acting, All around great movie!

Who doesn't love a great buddy cop movie?  And When the buddy cops are Mel Gibson and Danny Glover? Forget about it. I love all four movies really, but the first is the best.

'Come out to the cost...We'll get together, have a few laughs...' . What a classic line. Guaranteed to brighten my mood, even when I have the sniffles and the beginning of a nasty cold.

Thought all I watched was action movies, huh?  Cinderella is one of my favorite movies and when I pull this movie out, I am usually settling in for a long day of Disney. Tangled, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast.....but it all starts with this amazing story of dreams coming true.

Now... Back to the action, so to speak.

 R.E.D. and action movie with the heart of a romance. I really love this movie. I mean....Helen Mirren with an Uzi. Is there anything better?

Last one on my list of feel better flicks is Iron Man. Others came after it, and they were ok, but this movie set the Bar. This is what movie makers aim for now. This instant classic that is now influencing men's fashion and science as we know it!

When I am sick I love a good action flick! ...>.> .... I love a good action flick anytime really, but these are my go to!

 And now, the healthy snack for a sore throat!

1 good sized lemon.
Honey
1 good sized jar

This is pretty simple....

Thinly slice your lemon, then put a layer of slices on the bottom of the jar, then poor on a good squeeze of the honey. Layer of lemons, squeeze of honey, until you have no more. Then seal the jar, put the jar in the fridge, and let it be for two days.

 After that, either serve hot in tea or cold, as a lemonade of sorts.

These honey soaked lemons will keep for about two weeks, three if kept very cold.

Trip update!!!

Hello Lovelies~

   Today is just a small update on how my trip is going. I got a bit of a rushed start and forgot the phone with all the cool data on it at home, which is now about three or four states away, so instead of updating Instagram, I am posting picture and trip updates on my facebook, which if you would like to add me as a friend, please let me know you are from here, I tend not to add random friend requests. ^^;

So far everything is going well and I am looking forward to all of the fun detours that make trips worth while. I am also keeping my eye out for good Antique shops. One never knows what you'll find amongst the clutter ^_^

Look forward to my first tutorial of the year on Friday, and I'll give you a hint....it's all about the Sparkle!

February Inspiration

Hello Lovelies~

 It has been a little while since my last post, but I have a good reason, I swear! >.>...ish. It's not that I've been lazy....o.o Ah...I see you don't believe me. It's ok. I don't believe me either ^_^

This past week I have been getting ready to go visit family and as such I have been trying to clean my house and get my clothes together.

Visiting family always makes me nervous and anxious. *sigh*

But I have a few things planned for while I'm gone including, but not limited to, Make up reviews, A few Video Tutorials, and pictures of my trip on my Instagram! And to think, I'll only be gone 10 days. Lol.

 For today though, I thought I'd share a few pictures from Weheartit.com that are inspiring me for Valentine's Day this year.

 If you can't tell, I want to make cute treats for those I love this year. Whether it's filling a box with candy hearts that taste like chalk on a good day, but the messages are adorable. Or it's making chocolate strawberry bark. This year's Valentine's day is going to be Sweet ^_~*

Glam Bag/ Ipsy Bag Review: January: Super Stars!

 January is all about trying out new things. Making a new start. Making promises to yourself that you totally intend on keeping!....even if you only actually follow through on one of them.

 So, I said this post would cover two things, well, it will also cover, 'Try New Things'. If you read up top I mentioned Red really isn't my color. But I must say...this red isn't terrible.
