Lolitas who Cosplay (Or want to)

Hello Lovelies~

Convention season is upon us and I'm usually one for just packing my beautiful dresses and being my regular frilly self. But in the last year I have been watching a lot of shoujo anime and over time its struck me how frilly and fluffy the outfits from Cardcaptor Sakura are. And I thought, what a great idea for those of us frilly ladies who like to Cosplay, but know the golden rule. (Lolita is NOT cosplay!)

As a PERSONAL OPINION I am not one for Anime or Game icons made up to be Lolitas. Mario redesigned to wear frills or Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion wearing over the knee socks and rocking horses just isn't my thing.

But, I do enjoy cosplaying, it's fun and frivolous! So I thought I'd share my list of Shows/Characters that would be good for those of us who enjoy dressing up, but still want to be frilly and elegant at the same time.

~ Cardcaptor Sakura ~ (A small selection of cute outfits)

~ Tokyo Mew Mew ~ (Maid Outfits)

~ Gosick ~

There are others of course, Like 'Jellyfish Princess' and 'Pretear', or even 'Corrector Yui' if you're feeling really old school and adventurous. Chobits is another good one. (Thanks to a friend for reminding me of that one)

Thanks for reading and I'd love to know if you cosplay, and if so, what are some of the costumes you're working on for the coming con season.

I'm not too fond of most most "Lolita-ed" cosplays in general. I will admit I have seen a handful and thought, "Oh, wow. That's actually well executed!", but for the most part it doesn't really excite me.

Cosplay is something I have admired from afar but never been able to participate. Needless to say, I have one of those folders that I save images that cater to my wishful cosplay fantasies.

I think a fair one for Gothic Lolita would be Fruits Basket's Hanajima Saki. When she isn't wearing her school uniform, she's a black Lolita ensemble.
