DIY Cute Studded Shorts (Tutorial sort of)

Hello Lovelies~

I know it's November, but in some parts of the world it's warm and I'm dreaming of warm wind and sunshine. A friend of mine, while doing massive amounts of laundry, for a pair of old shorts and asked if I wanted them.

Free shorts? You Bet!

Now I've had a bunch of light pink studs I've been holding on to since studding came into fashion, but I had yet to find just the right thing to use them on, until now that is.

Step one ~ Lay out your materials. All you need is what you want to stud and the studs. Super Easy!

Step Two~ Choose your design.

I went with a heart on one pocket and I played around with designs for the other....

Step Three ~ Push the studs through the fabric of your chosen project and carefully fold over the prongs. This was the hardest part of the whole thing. To fold over the prongs, use something heavy and solid. I used a unopened soda can.

I don't have pictures of this process because I honestly forgot to take them. But I'm sure Youtube has a few good videos on how to do it.

In the end, this is what I chose. The studding was very hard work, but it was well worth it. It's an adorable look that I feel great when wearing.

I really liked doing this. It was so much fun!

 Thanks for reading!!!

Design an Outfit for Under $100 : Mermaid Theme

Hello Lovelies~

A few months back I did a 'Outfit for under $100' post. I really enjoyed that post and for a while now I have been debating on doing another. So here it is, my next exciting 'Under $100' post!

With the re-release of 'The Little Mermaid' in theaters this fall, it seems that were once Unicorns were the Must Have hot trend in Mythical Creatures, now Mermaids are swimming in to take their place. Wearable swimming Mermaid tails a popping up all over the place and one doesn't need a beach to feel like a mermaid these days as long as you have a pool close by.

I have loved mermaids since I was tiny. They have always fascinated me and 'The Little Mermaid' was watched so much in my house that I wore out my VHS and my mum had to get a second copy.

To say I was excited to scour my favorite handmade site for mermaid related items is a bit of an understatement. I really just had to go though my favorites and pick a few of my top items to share. ^_^

First, let's start with the main piece, it'll be what most see first and really sets the tone for this outfit. The last time I did something fancy. An outfit that could be worn to a party or out to a beautiful dinner, but this time I went more casual. A 'Dress me up, Dress me down' type outfit that can fit anyone's taste.

This shirt is from the Etsy shop owner ' Em & Sprout '.  I own the Kawaii Unicorn shirt from them and it's a grat shirt, so I would order from them again and Recommend them to anyone looking for a comfy cute Tee.

This one is priced at $18.00 for 1X or 2X.

How cute is this hair clip? At $25, it's a bit pricy for what it is. But when you think about the time and effort it took to make this lovely hair piece, I can understand.

This is made by the Etsy shop, 'CutieDynamite'. She has other interesting hair pieces that I would recommend for various different outfits if one were inclined to check them out.

Made by the Etsy shop, ' Blacktulipshop ', these earrings add a flirty fun element that can't be passed up for $7.

For those of us who don't think hinting at a theme is good enough. This necklace states it as bold as could be. 'Poison Tragic' made a very cute Laser cut Acrylic label necklace. I like the color. It's a frosty ice blue that speaks to me of the water.

$10 and one of these cute necklaces will add a bold statement as to the mythical creature what dwells in your heart.

What outfit is complete without a stunning set of nails?  These show stoppers are done by the Talented ' Lhouraii ', who can be found on Etsy under the same shop name. I've seen nails like this cost as much as $70 before, but at $28.35, these are a steal!

Now these nails aren't for everyone. They're a bit long. A bit claw like. Very me, but not for all, so I found a style that is a bit more tame. And can be done yourself on your own nails.

I found this on Pinterest. It's not my tutorial and I don't own it. But I've done it before and it's so cool!

It reminds me of mermaid scales and beach waves. For a mermaid look, change the hot pink to a sea green color.

Now I didn't include a skirt with this outfit because partly I couldn't find one anywhere I liked, on Etsy or other wise, but then I thought, Why not make the skirt yourself?

We've all seen the Tulle Tutu skirts that are all the rage and if you've looked into making them, they are actually quite cheap and easy to do. But what if you replaced the Tulle with Chiffon?

My good friend Violet LeBeaux, who writes the blog 'Violet LeBeaux - Tales of Ingenue', did a tutorial on a Tulle Tutu skirt which I think would be easy to convert to a Chiffon material.

How to make a Tulle Tutu by Violet LeBeaux

So let's add it all up...

Shirt        -- $18
Hair Clip --$25
Earrings  --$7
Nails      -- $28.35
Necklace --$10
________________

Total --- $ 88.35

YAY!!!  I made an outfit for under $100!!!

This leaves enough left over to make or buy a skirt you like that would complete this look.

I hope you enjoyed this Outfit! maybe I'll do another one soon. I had so much fun putting this together!

Metamorphose Spotlight!

Hello Lovelies~

I just got an update from my favorite brand and wow! It's an interesting update. Updated for Halloween, but not actually a costume....Presenting.....The Airline Stewardess Lolita!

And can I just say....Yay for the old school giant platform heals. Ok, back to the clothes.

I'm not sure if this is a Novelty release, but I like it. It would be a fun new small trend.

Same style, different colors... If you'll notice, this dress is worn without an undershirt. It is rare to see a JSK designed like this. Even most summer dresses are paired with short sleeved blouses. This skirt is also shorter than what is considered acceptable. It's not Ero-Lolita short by any means, but I wouldn't recommend it for taller girls.

This dress looks a little costume-esque, but that may just be the way it's styled. The tall boots and the longer dress are a bit much for this short model. While I enjoy the clean A-Line of the first dress, I like the traditional Lolita shape and length of this one. I also like what Meta has done with the lapels on this dress. The lower, curved shape of them will be good for girls with a slightly larger chest. The design will both accent and downplay the area, hard to do, but very smart of Metamorphose to think about more than just the Japanese body type.

But the cutest part so far has to be the little hat! I am so in love with this little hat, I can't even tell you, but What I can say is that it's the next thing I'm getting when I get paid! What will I wear it with you ask?.........Everything o.o

What do you think? Cute new style or fashion flop? I myself would love one of the cute little hats ^_^

A Lolita Letter

Hello Lovelies~

After reading an letter written by a fellow blogger that she wrote after reading a letter from another blogger, I decided to write my own letter!

Please check out the original Letter ---->  Here ^_^

So here I go!

Dear Lolita-chan~

It's been a long, hard road to get where you are. Often times that road was filled with stares that you could feel as you walked by and awkward questions that you really didn't know the answer to, but you've made it though the tough times to find yourself surrounded in a fluffy, elegant, beautiful world that accepts you for you and have found friends that think 'Go Big or Go Home' is a way of life, no just a pretty phrase.

When you started out all those years ago by starring at a room full of clothes that were nice, but didn't actually speak to you, and searched until you put together two nice outfits that consisted of black tank tops over white dress shirts with a flat black skirt, I bet you never thought you'd own Brand, or even fit into Brand, but look at you now!

You've learned that walking out of the house with your hair in a scrunchie and chipped, two week old nail polish isn't the best side to show the world. You now stand taller and aren't afraid to walk amongst a crown in your frills for fear that someone will ask you questions. In fact, you welcome the questions and even tell those interested how to get started on their own path of Frilly Discovery.

You can speak to large crowds without shaking, you stand taller, and you've blossomed into a vibrant person that feels as beautiful on the inside as she looks on the outside.

Sure, you have your down days of lounging in front of the t.v. in your pajamas and you still feel that shoes were created by someone as a punishment, and tend not to wear them when you can get away with it, but you're so much happier than you were so many years ago.

So don't give up. Keep smiling though the looks and the questions and you'll find your way.

 Kat

Younkers Make up Trend Event Results!

Hello Lovelies~

 On Saturday I attended a Summer Makeup event hosted by Estee Lauder, held at Younkers. I had a lot of fun and learned that I am a level 1 on the skin darkness chart. Level 1 being the palest color their is.....Go Figure ^_^;

Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me, as I left my phone at home by mistake, so I don't have pictures of my pretty outfit or of the freshly done make up, but I do have pictures of the results after 5 hours of work and a temp of 89 degrees.

So what's the trend of the summer? Purples.

Light violets, plums, orcid, and bright bright pinks. The colors are beautiful and I want everyone to go out and check them out for yourselves. They are so so pretty!

Here you can see the foundation they used has really smoothed out and taken away the redness that usually takes over my cheeks. My make up specalist used the 'Double Wear Light Weight' Foundation and Concealer, then set it all with the 'Double Wear Light Weight Powder' in the color Linen.

I found the results spectactular and it really was light weaight and easy to wear. it even stayed put through repeated blotting and an entire day of work. I'd love to have each of these products in my collection.

On my lips my artist put a 'Wild Plum' Gloss stick, which was only slightly darker than in the picture when it was first applied. it was smooth and it didn't get gummy after hours of wear. So I say this is worth the investment and really want it in my collection as well.

We went light and romantic wuth my eyes. We used a Cream Shadow base called 'Golden Sand', then lightly layered 'Iridescent Violet' on the lid and 'Pink Flash' for alittle soft glitter and highlights. To complete the look we used a Violet eye liner which I really liked.

Here is a picture of the look with my eyes cloed.

What I don't have a good picture of, but you can see in the picture above is the blush that was used. I'm not normally a blush wearer. I have enough pinkness in my cheeks, but when this lovely pink/purple blush was pulled out and lightly ghosted over my cheeks, I fell in love. I felt like a fairy tale princess...it was so different. I plan to get this color as soon as I have some extra money.

So! As a 'Thank You' for attending the event, the money that I payed to reserve my make over time was gifted back to me. So I got $25 to buy anything I wanted....so what did I get???

Why the Violet Eyeliner of course ^_^

What's this....Has anyone else noticed I no longer have pink hair? Lol! My work said 'NO' very loudly and So I had to dye it back. Though it turned red when I tried to cover it and it's now a light light light red brown color. I really like how it turned out, even if I didn't get to keep my pink hair.

I'll be Reveiwing the Eyeliner tomorrow, so Stay Tuned!

Trend Report!

Hello Lovelies~

With Christmas right around the corner I haven't haven't been as attentive to you as I should, but in my week or so of down time, I did stumble across a cute trend everyone is going to love!

The trend I'm talking about is Fur! Or, more specifically, Fur Collars and Tails.

Fur collars are perfect for the winter. You can add them to coats or over any sweater to give it a touch of cuteness or elegance, depending on what you're going for. Innocent World was the first brand I was release just the fur collar, one that wasn't connected to any jacket or coat, though it had the ability to be. It was Released in 2009 in both a fawn, or Dear Spotted print, as well as a plain chocolate brown.

On to the next half of this trend. Tails.

While tails have yet to reach the Lolita community, they are very big with Gyrau and Gals.

Multi colored.... big and fluffy....I don't see a down side to this adorable trend. I wear a tail myself sometimes, though usually only around the Renascence Fairs.

Following this trend can add some whimsy and fun to a casual outfit and would be an awesome addition to any Deco Lolita outfit, or even and Fairy Kei look, how cute! Not brave enough to walk around with a tail connected to your belt loops? Connect it to you purse instead. It's a perfectly viable option and still allows you to join in this playful trend.

Please note, these awesome pictures belong to Japanese Streets, which is an amazing trend following blog. Go check them out!
