From pastel to......Electric!

 Hello Lovelies~

 For a long time now I have looked in the mirror and said.....where did 'I' go? The me that used to dye her hair wild colors and didn't care what people thought about her outrageous-ness? 

Then Victoria Susan of 'Lolita Charm' posted This blog artical and I agreed with it. Sometimes we make scarifices and it's ok, but when you look in the mirror and don't know youself anymore, it's time for a change. So I did!

I bought a box of pink hair dye and thought about the conciquices for half a moment before sectioning out my bangs and going for it!

And set about turning my hair from a uiformed color of nice but average hair color of brunette (A mix of light and dark shades of brown) To a soft pastel pink....or so I thought.

30 mins. later I went back into the bathroom to wash out the dye and was shocked to she how....PINK my hair had turned. Caps Lock is the only way to discribe it!

PINK~!!!!!!!!!

 Honestly......I like it. Light pink wouldn't have been very me anyways. The electric look suits my personality better.

If you could jump up and make any change in a hour, would you? What would it be?

Day out with friends...

Hello Lovelies~

 I know I am late with this update, but I wanted to get all of the pictures from the people who attended my ILD get together. Sadly, only three people showed up, but I was happy to spend the day with them regardless. It wasn't about the number of people that came, it was all about the people in general.

The list of attendees goes as follows....

And her strikingly handsome brother! He sadly did not get to stay long, but we were very happy to have in join us for as long as he did.

And me of course ^_^ As I am the one taking the pictures, you won't see a lot of me, but I do have a full outfit shot.

Ta dah! I wore my new Meta dress! This dress was so comfortable and light weight it was like wearing air. it's the perfect summer dress ^_^


For the first half of the day, it was Tara, my Mother, and Myself at a wine tasting, held by our local in door farmers market called, 'Tomato Tomahto' It;s really cute and the people who run it are super friendly!

See? ....a little camera shocked.....but still very nice. They sell the best tomatos in Omaha!

 The tasting was attended by local wineries as well as other local organic business owners from around the area.

There was a couple selling Gluten Free cake mixes...

I didn't mean to, but I caught them unaware and this was the only picture of them that wasn't blurry.

 I am usually not one for gluten free things, but of all their treats, I liked the chocolate cake the best...

Moist, chocolaty, and perfect with the root beer I was sipping at the time. Very good worth having again.

I also tried some of the granola that was being sampled....

I tried the raisin and pecan mix and was very pleased. It was just sweet enough for a midday snack, but not so sweet that it made you hungry five minuets later. I plan to go back and get some next pay check.

 There was wine of course...

But as I don't drink wine, I couldn't tell you if it was amazing or not....but it was ok.

 The real show stopper was these guys...

They were selling a fruit compote like jelly that they called 'The Sweet Before the Heat'.

It is a fruit mixed with hobanero peppers....not sure how they did it, as there is no pepper smell of flavor, but the moment you put it in your mouth you get the sweet soothing fruit, then are hit with this.....spicy, tingling sensation that takes over all of your senses, but isn't knock your socks off hot.

 I'm not one for overly spicy things, but when I saw they had Peach flavor, I had to try it....

I swear it is so good! So good in fact, that a bought a jar to put on my bagels or toast in the mornings! Take about a wake up call.


 When then when to lunch at Red Robin, where I got no pictures.....Very sad, and then met up with the other two additions to out party and went to the mall to get manicures.

Purple for me, which despite the lightly is actually very lovely.

 It was a great day all together and I hope the Fall Lolita Day is just as entertaining. ^_^

On a side note, I need a better camera and someone that will take lots of pictures for me. Next International Lolita Day I want to be in the pictures as well! Oh well. We'll see how that goes over the course of the rest of the year ^_^

Joy in the Mail!

Hello Lovelies~

    

          I have been slowly paying off a new dress for ILD and last Friday I paid the last payment and look what was on my doorstep the other day!!!

Isn't it wonderful? I quickly opened it and was shocked to find that the sender had sent it in the original bag!

I could hardly contain my excitement, and to be honest... I didn't try to hard, and quickly pulled out the bag to open it.
 

 

 

 

Having always been one to read the card first, I pulled out the manila envelope first and was pleased to see an assortment of bows and the waist ties that accompanied the dress. There were even small bows to go in my hair, which made life rock!
 
 I love wearing my hair in pigtails and small bows make that style ten times cuter.
 
 

 

I also received the matching Headbow for the dress. So I have tons of ways to style this outfit, not just one.

 This is a fully Shirred JSK from Metamorphose. It is cream and has a super cute depiction of the Hansel and Gretel fairytale around it. 
 
 I tried to get a good picture of the print, the the only good picture I could get was while it was being worn, and it's odd, but I'm going to show it to you anyways and hope you can see the print well.

 So for $160 I got a Brand dress that fits well. The Matching Headbow. An assortment of bows to place one the dress any way I want. Small hair bows. The waist ties. and the original bag is was bought in....
 
Now bad for buying off the EGL Sales Comm.

Simple Yarn Hairbow

Hello Lovelies~

 This post is going to be quick, but I do have some longer indepth posts coming up in June with will cover a range of topics from getting started in Lolita with things you already have in your closet and reviews for a local Chocolatire I have fallen head over heel for.

So, on with the show, so to speak ^_~

I used my Cellphone as a base and wrapped yarn around it length wise until I had as much as I wanted, then carefully slid it off, making sure to not let it unravel. I then wrapped yarn around the middle and secured it with a knot when I was pleased with the look. I added an Alligator clip and Tadah!

 Here it is worn, but I'll have a better pictutre of it worn on Friday.

It may look odd, but I didn't think of having anyone else take the picture ^^;

 Hope you like it and try it for yourself. I didn't spend anything on this as I already had the supplies, but yarn isn't that expencive, maybe $3 for they multi pastel color type I used, and the hair clips are about $3 for a package of 5, so I hope you'll all go out and try this for yourself!
 

Beauty in the Eye of a Storm

Hello Lovelies~

 Tonight I am watching a beautiful storm through my dining room windows as I sip hot sweetened tea and let my thoughts think about how stunning the sage-ish mint cream color the light has become. Most people don't like storms, but me...I love them.

Rain is cleansing and the rumble of thunder reverberates through my chest...it's...like if you stand outside for long enough, nature will cleanse away everything.

 I like that thought, and for this post, I'd like to share with you some styles inspired by nature!

Innocent World is always a great source of Gentle and Natural feeling clothing. This season, we are graced with beautiful roses and strawberries. As seen below.

The white and wine color is a gentle mix of organic and feminine. The feel of this piece inspires me to take a walk though the woods...

Below is a closer picture of this print.

 This print makes me want to go on a picnic and read classic books under a large blooming apple tree.

Metamorphose is currently working with chiffon and lace, but I did find one accessory that matches well with my nature themed meandering down the rabbit hole.

Fairy Garland. To my thoughts, these would be like wrist cuffs, only a little less tight and more like bracelets.

I've had my eye on this purse since before it offically came out in early spring. I love it and I loves the consept sketches for it! This purse makes me think of collecting flowers in a feild of wild flowers.

Baby the Star Shine Bright is very light and classic sweet this year, but nothing really feels natural and organic, but I did see a purse that would match well with and be the perfect way to end this post.

While I already showed you my dream Forest Maiden like purse, this tote bag is soft and elegant. It would be better for a change of shoes and a cargigan just in case the natural setting you find yourself in is not ideal to high heals and is hotter or colder than you previously thought.

Who doesn't love a good Fairy Tale? Cinderella, Snow White,Sleeping Beauty,  Princess and the Pea, there are others, but each of these fairy tales have been turned into Brand Prints in this past year. (May '10 - May '11).

 But now we have a new Print to add to this wonderful list. .........Introducing.......Peter Pan!!!!

Ok, so it's techincally Tinker Bell, but still...it's in the same story.

  'Night Fairy Fantaisia' is the latest print in the Alice and the Priates/Baby the Stars Shine Bright line up.  It comes in four diffrent colors, the Tan and Ivory color above is called 'Cloudy Sky'.

The above pair of super cute frilly Overalls is represented in the colors of Green and Off White. This colors is called 'Dreamy Planet'.

The JSK above called, 'Milky Way'. And it is shown in Navy and Navy.

'Starry Night' is a Black on Black design, though it is shown here in Black and Pink. I love this coloring.

 This line is on Pre-Reservation right now and the lovely clothes will be joined with....

Spring purse and a Small tutorial how to

 This Easter was tight, not 'tight' in the cool way, 'tight' as in financially. So to save on the baskets and candy and everything else, (Which I later got on sale for 70% off ^_~ ), I made myself an Easter/May Day Purse. Something I could carry all summer! And I made it for less than $10.

Firstly, I went to my local thrift shop and went straight to their purse section. One never knows what kind of treasures they cane find there and low and behold, I struck gold!

Look how awesome this tote is? There is nothing wrong with it, and I got it for $1.55! I was so excited to add this to my growing straw bag collection. It was the perfect canvas to be creative with.

 So I looked around my house and found an old bunch of on the stem fake roses and I snipped the off, then hot glued them in the shape I wanted. As shown below...

I thought I was finished, but when I stepped back from it, it looked.....odd....

It needed more, so off to my local craft store I went and I got 5 inches of a pretty material and matching thread for about $5 and preceded to cut it into three pieces, One for the bow, one for the middle of the bow, and one piece for the long ribbon tails, Then I over lock stitched everything and tacked it in place with a few well placed stitches.

 This was the outcome!

Not the greatest pictures, but I'll have a shot of it actually carried with an outfit soon. I hope all of you had  great holidays!

 So to recap!!!

 1) Good purse = $1.55
 2) Bunch of roses and hot glue = (Free as I already owned them, but for the purpose of calculations...) about $3 total
 3) 5 inches of fabric and thread = $5

 So my total comes to.....$9.55!

Less than $10!

And to top it all off, I had a lot of fun!

Lolita Remote Holder!!

Hello Lovelies!

 I'm sure you remember this thing I made in March. It's strange and pretty, but for a whole month I couldn't figure out what to do with it....it just sat on the table beside my couch and took up space. But after a small fit of cleaning, which doesn't happen often, I was able to not only get my living room looking lovely, but I found a use for this odd thing!

So I present to you....

 The Loli-fied Remote controel holder!

For the love of a Small Convention

Hello Lovelies~

 Over the weekend, I attended a wonderful Scifi convention by the name of ConStellation, which was held in Lincoln Nebraska, and I had a great time. The staff really knows how to host a three day party!

I hosted six or seven panels over the course of two days, ate a lot of yummy cake and various different things from the Con Suite, hung out with friends, made new friends, and caught up on juicy gossip ^_~. In the span of two days, there was mild drama, major drama (none with me personally, but I know it happened), photos, outfit changes, smiles and tears, but it wouldn't be a great con with out those elements.

 Friday I wore a sweet punk-ish outfit and there was only one picture of it. It's slightly blurry and I'm not the main focus of it as it was more of a general picture rather than a photo with a purpose but I'll show it to ya'll anyways ^_^

I'm the only one in the picture wearing a large head bow. I wore a hot pink shirt with black trim, a pink and white trimmed triple tiered skirt, black fishnets, black lace up granny boots, a over sized white Metamorphose head bow, and two necklaces. One was a long chain with a bird cage, complete with steel swinging bird inside, and the second was a gothic style cameo on a velvet length of ribbon.

 I wish I had gotten petter pictures of this outfit, but I'll be wearing it again soon, so I'll get pictures then!

That night I ran two panels and my mom ran one. Our Panel list of the night was : Para para @ 9pm., Tales of Fanfiction Horror @ 11pm, and Midnight Tarot @ Midnight.

 To be honest....it was us competing against the rave going on upstairs, I had no one show up for the first two panels, and only three show up to the last one. I was sad, but I understood that we were slatted at a difficult time.

Saturday was wonderful! I ran another panel and mom and I both ran the other two. Here is what I wore for Saturday...

I was in a long sleeved white shirt, a black and white diamond patterned dress I made myself (Straps coming soon), white knee high socks, black mary jane heels, and the gothic cameo on the velvet ribbon that I wore the previous day.  I put my hair up with rose hair pins and I was surprised that they help all of my hair up and to the side all day!

      In this one you can kind of see my nails, which I will be posting a full post on in a day or so.

I hosted the Lolita 101 panel and was very pleased by the turn out. I hope the guys that attended will attempt the Male Lolita styles and that the girls will go out and build their wardrobes while keeping the style their own.

  I was also host to The Hero of 1000 faces @ 4, which went over smashingly, and From Firefly to Serenity @ 11 which was amazing given that the audience knew the series inside and out and we were all able to have a great discussion about the show and after the given hour, it wondered off course and turned into a, 'Any and Every thing is fair game' panel. It was wicked!

One of my favorite things about the con is the Con suite. It is the best, well stocked, well rounded, con suites one could ask for. And I've seen a lot of Con Suites, so I know what I'm talking about.

 Not only was there cake, which was killer, there was fruit and baklava for breakfast, chips, popcorn, skittles, rice crispy treats, home made brownies, and hot dogs and chilli for dinner. I'm not even mentioning other things that were eaten before or after I got there, just the things I saw myself.

I want to take this moment to thank the convention staff who worked so hard to make the experience one that will never be forgotten. For any of you that are reading, and I know there may be one or two, Thank you SO much and I can't wait to attend next year!!!!!

I really love this convention and look forward to returning next year for ConStellation 3 and I hope those of you who can will come and experience this amazing convention for yourselves.
